Recently Matilda and I, inspired by the book Leaf Litter, decided to make a picture showing the different layers of soil one finds in the garden. It was a great, fast little activity. We started by going around the garden digging up bits of soil and mulch and popping it all into a tray, making sure not to mix them up. Then we glued the different types of soil onto a canvas and used old styrofoam packaging to be our worms (gotta have some creepy crawlies in there!). Lots of fun!
